George Miller Jr.

George Miller Jr., 86, of Freehold, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Schultz Miller; son, George Miller III; son-in-law, Robert Kyle; and sister Carol Bora. Surviving are his son, David Miller and wife, Gail, of Middletown; daughters, Diann Doderer and husband, Dennis, of Forked River, Deborah Kyle of Neptune; brothers, Charles and Paul Keller; sister, Patti Ricci; and ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Grace Wyman

Grace Wyman, 71, of Neptune City, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Originally from Greenock, Scotland, she moved to America with her family in 1974. Grace worked as a nurses aide for over 35 years at the Medi-Center in Neptune City, caring for those in need. She was a compassionate soul, with a heart of gold. She truly loved others with all of her heart. Grace enjoyed bowling, gift auctions and playing the penny slots in AC. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Avon, NJ.

Grace is predeceased by her husband, Alfred (Fred) Wyman, who passed away in 2010. She is survived by her son, Paul Wyman of South Carolina and her daughter, Carol Benedetto and husband, Steve of Neptune City, with whom she lived. Grace is also survived by her grandchildren: Korin Gray and husband, Michael of Tampa, FL, Amanda Pienta and Ashley Benedetto of Neptune City as well as her great-grandchildren: Michael Jr., Hayleigh, and Aubrey Gray. Grace is also survived by a brother, John Gillian and wife, Ellen and a sister, Anne Sinclair and husband, Stewart, of Greenock, Scotland, along with many nieces and nephews.

Jean Marie Kelshaw

Jean Marie Kelshaw, 89, of Ocean Grove, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Manor by the Sea. She was born in Chester, NJ and lived in Ocean Grove for many years. She was a life member of the First Congregational Church, Chester, attended Oakhurst Methodist Church, St. Paul's Methodist Church, Ocean Grove, and a dedicated member of Eastern Star for 70 years. Jean Marie retired from the Neptune Township Welfare office where she worked for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Norman A. Kelshaw, mother, Bessie A. Johnston and son, Ernie Kelshaw. Surviving are her son Alvah Kelshaw of Branchville, NJ, daughter, Nancy Doremus and husband Frank of Neptune, daughter in-law, Niki Kelshaw of South Carlina, 7 grandchildren; Jeffery Bennett, Crystal Bennett, Franklin Doremus III, Cameron Kelshaw, Amy Doremus, Justin Bennett and Cagney Kelshaw.

Dorothy A. Boyce

Dorothy (Dot) A. Boyce, 75, of Neptune, passed away at home on Saturday, September 3, 2016. Dorothy worked for 46 years as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Unexcelled Neptune Firehouse.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ira William Boyce and brother, Hank Kulik, Surviving are her sons, William, Robert, and Christopher and wife Kristin; daughter, Deborah Sullivan and husband, Chickie; sister, Cathy Edwards; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Edna A. Olmstead

Edna A. Olmstead, 85, of Neptune, passed away at home on Friday, August 26, 2016, surrounded by family. She was born in Newport, Rhode Island. She was an avid volunteer in her church and community. She could always be counted on to help those in need. She was an active member of St. James Church and received the Episcopal Honored Woman award for the diocese of NJ in 2011.
She is predeceased by her parents, Alden and Nellie smith; her husband, Harold Jr.; son, Dr. Harold III; daughter, Lisa Joy; and sisters, Frances Biastre and Barbara Carter. Survived by her son,, Carl (Cammie); daughters, Sandra Rodgers, JoAnne (Carmen), Juliano, Gail Delnegro; daughter-in-law, Cathy; sister, Ruth Lauth; and sister-in-law, Norma Campbell. She had ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a huge, loving extended family. 
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Jean R. DeSeno

Jean R. DeSeno, 72, of Ocean Township, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She was an office manager for Dr. Robert Deatrick dental office. Jean was a graduate of Neptune High School and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Iannuzzi and sister, Barbara Berman. Surviving are her sons, Danny DeSeno of Ocean, Steven DeSeno and wife, Maria, of Ocean; daughter, Jeana Wolfson and husband, John, of Ocean; sisters, Mary Ann Cuccurull of Roseland, Penny LaCour of Neptune; grandchildren, Olivia, Jude, Kayla, Helena, Reese and manu nieces and nephews.

Tennent Emmons Jr.

Tennent Emmons Jr., passed away at home on August 21, 2016, with his loving family at his side. He was born and raised in Freehold before settling in Neptune City for over 50 years. Tennent was a self taught backhoe operator and truck driver and very proud of the business he built. He was a big Nascar fan, enjoyed camping and sitting on his porch.
Surviving are his loving wife, Olga, of 38 years; two sons, Justin and Tennent; daughter, Debbie and husband Bruce; grandchildren, Brittany, Eric and Justin Jr.; great grandchildren, Jasper and Isabella; two sisters, Delores King and Vera Baggitt; and many nieces and nephews.

State Senator, Joseph A. Palaia

State Senator, Joseph A. Palaia, 89, of Ocean Township died at home surrounded by his loved ones on August 20, 2016. Mr. Palaia is survived by his daughter, Denise; his grandson, Anthony and his wife, Aimee; grandson, Adrian; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Mackay; and his sister, Elizabeth Rosenstein. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Senator Palaia is predeceased by his loving wife, Wedell; son, Joseph J. Palaia; sister, Frances and three brothers, Ralph, George and Jerry.
Besides being a lifetime member of countless civic organizations and undefeated in his political career at various levels of government, Senator Palaia was named by the Asbury Park Press editorial as the "quintessential politician," and a man of the people. He also had the pleasure of being the principal of Wanamassa Elementary School for 33 years. Among his achievements, he was elected into the Rider College and Neptune High School Halls of Fame. For his service to the community of Ocean Township, Joe Palaia Park was named in his honor.

Janet Hall

Janet Hall, of Wall, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at Coral Harbor Rehab & healthcare Center, Neptune City. She was a homemaker. 
Janet was the Past Commander Union Beach Post, Past Chaplain American Legion for Monmouth County, member of the Aux Post #346 Neptune American Legion. 
She was predeceased by her sons, Robert, James and daughter, Jacqueline. Surviving are her sons, John Hall of Wall and Bernard Gortner; son-in-law, Bob Beverly; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Larry L. Campbell Jr.

Larry L. Campbell Jr., 44, passed away August 7, 2016. He was born in Eatontown at Fort Monmouth, NJ. He was a decorated firefighter at Jackson Mills, Ocean, Long Brand and Eatontown. He also was an outstanding auto body painter.
He is survived by his wife, Nora Campbell; mother, Mary Garguilo, sister, Sherry Robinson; uncle, Robert Hudson; six children, Gabrielle, Justin, Amanda, Giavanna, Hailey and Christian; nephews, Dennis Robinson Jr., Isaiah Robinson; niece, Brooke Robinson; granddaughter, Aubriana Byham; grandson, Jayce Campbell; and great niece, Juliana Robinson.

Grace Manzo

Grace Manzo, 100, of Ocean Township, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Holiday Care Center, Toms River. Grace was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Manzo; father, Alfonso; mother, Carmela; siblings, Josephine, Dolly, Joseph, ALbert, William and many other family members. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Franzwich; grandson, Michael C. Piomono; great grandchildren, Michael A. Piomino and Hudson Grey.

James Allegro Sr.

James Allegro Sr. (Jimmy Legs), 85, of Shark River Hills, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016, at home. He worked for the Borough of Bradley Beach, Department of Public Works. James was a Veteran of the Air Force.
He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Rose Allegro. Surviving are his daughter, Rose Haydu and husband, Chris, of Ocean; sons, Angelo Allegro of Long Branch, James Allegro Jr. of Shark River Hills, William Allegro (Skip) of Ocean and grandchildren, Nicole, Rachel, Matthew, Paulie, AJ, Meghan, Amanda, Luke and Evan.

Dwayne McKelvey

Dwayne "Poppa Smurf" McKelvey went home to the Lord on July 1, 2016. Surviving are his three sons, Richard, Michael & John Scalley; their spouses, Marivil Moreno, Crystal & Kayla Scalley; five grandchildren, Ariyanna, Peter, Kaylienda, Jaliyah & John Jr; his mother, Betty Volek; and his two sisters and three brothers, many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Rae Vollbrecht

Rae Vollbrecht, 82, of Neptune, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She worked for Two Guys for 15 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Vollbrecht. Surviving are her son, Mark Vollbrecht and wife, Beth, of Neptune City; daughters, Paula Gardner and husband, Richard, of Wall, Michelle LaFalce and husband, Joe, of Point Pleasant; six grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, Derek, Danielle, Matthew and Gabby; and three great grandchildren. Rae was a loving mother and grandmother.

Shay Schembri

Shay Schembri, 35, a loving husband and father, passed away suddenly.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Laura (Moore) Schembri; sons, Travis and Casey Schembri; brother, Christopher Schembri and his wife, Geralyn; mother, Carol Mele; step father, John Mele; father, Salvador Schembri; along with several in-laws, 11 nieces and nephew and 2 great nieces.

Shay was born and raised in Neptune and attended Neptune schools. He would tell you one of his greatest accomplishments was playing on the 1980-81 State Championship soccer team. He was an avid sportsman, coaching rec and traveling soccer. He served as VP of the soccer association and coach for Neptune Little League. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and kayaking. He was a self taught harmonica aficionado, loving the Blues.
Shay established 12 Oaks Landscaping in 1986 and managed the business successfully for 30 years. His home flourishes with beauty that could be paralleled with the Garden of Eden. He served his community on the environmental and planning board commissions. Shay had a tremendous personality. He was funny, witty and full of life. He was generous, kind and compassionate. He always put his friends and family ahead of himself. He made everybody feel like they were his favorite.
Most importantly, Shay was a loving and devoted father who loved his sons with his entire being. He adored his wife and provided a home filled with humor, love and great music!

Ruth Nowland

Ruth Nowland, of Neptune, passed away on June 16, 2016. Daughter of Alma and Harold Kingsinger, she was predeceased by her children, Florence, Clifford and Richard; brothers, Louie and Harold Bennett. Surviving are her son, Craig Nowland and fiance, Sherri Caruso; daughter-in-law, Janet Nowland, sister-in-laws, Judy Bennett and Marlene Nowland; her loving niece, Victoria Thompson and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary Conte

Mary Conte, 88 passed away peacefully on June 12, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Asbury Park.

She was predeceased by her father, James Camoosa and her mother, Rose, who lived to be 109; six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her sisters, Rita Camoosa and Ida Holmes; three children, Susan Skokos, Sal Conte and Janet Traettino and their spouses; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

George J. Rosasco

George J. Rosasco, 67, of Piscataway, passed away at home on June 11, 2016. He worked for Ford Motor Company as an inspector. George was the first graduating class of Ocean Township High School, Class of 67, and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Asbury Park.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Lucy Rosasco. Surviving are his brother, Richard Rosasco of Ocean Township.

Robert VanNote

Robert VanNote passed away peacefully at home in Neptune City on June 7, 2017, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Diane VanNote and his daughter, Diane VanNote. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters. He worked for Chambers Electric for 36 years. Robert was an amazing father and husband and will be cherished by many nieces, nephews and special family friend, Donna.

Gerardo Santiago

Gerardo "T-Jay" Santiago, 51, of Bradley Beach, died Monday, May 23, 2016 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center after a long illness. Surviving is his devoted wife, Jo An Santiago and mother-in-law, Moms Lizzen Van Slate; two daughters, Natalie & Katherine; and son, Gerardo Luis.

He was a self employed construction contractor, painter and worked as a supervising property manager for Bollerman Reality, before retiring in 2014. He was a gifted, self taught artist and loved gardening, landscaping and fixing anything and everything. He loved animals and taking care of "his girls," as he called his wife and mom. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. His legacy will live on in his artwork and all the people whose lives he touched.

Sidonia Bashore

Sidonia Bashore, 68, of Neptune entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 19, 2016. 
Wife of the late Charles Bashore, Sidonia is survived by her daughter, Christine Porter and her husband, Adrian, daughter Kimberlee Gerardis; her mother, Eleanor Cronin; her sister, Janie Reinertsen and her husband, Russell; her sister Marian Meling and her husband, Knut; and her beloved grandchildren, Kelly, Jack and Emily; her nieces; Julie, Lilli, Michelle and Allyson; and her nephew, Thomas.

Sidonia was born in Tarrytown, New York on February 22, 1948, daughter of Eleanor and the late, Thomas Cronin. She was raised in Cresskill, New Jersey, where she graduated from High School in 1965.

She attended Saint Thomas Aquinas College in New York, where she received a degree in English language and teaching. Although Sidonia taught, she eventually spent the majority of her career working as a technical language specialist. She was a gifted consultant with an exceptional analytical perspective on the English language.

Sidonia loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was an active person - she loved the beach and spending time on the boat with Charlie and their beloved dog, Skipper.

Sidonia was a wonderful person and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. We thank Sidonia for her wise view on life, her honesty and everlasting compassion.

Judith A. Brown, 72, of Tinton Falls, passed April 30, 2016 at home. She was predeceased by her husband, David Brown Sr. Surviving are her sons, David Brown Jr. of Wall, Ronald Brown of Brick, 2 sisters; Marion Steen and husband, Jim of South Carolina, Theresa D'Amico and husband, Jim of Sayreville, brother, George Schaar, grandson, Zachary Brown of Wall, niece, Bonnie Draper of Toms River. Judy was a dedicated mother and homemaker.
