He graduated from Newark’s Barringer High School in 1965 where he lettered as a swimmer.  Eventually, he relocated to Monmouth County, living in both Howell and Bradley Beach.

He was a loving father and grandpa.  Playing with kids and grandkids always brought out the kid in Carl.  As a dad, he was “Mr. Video” and prided himself on his witty commentary whether filming Christmas morning or a high school football game.  He was a diehard Mets, Jets, and Ranger’s fan.  He loved complaining about the wave at Shea, tailgating at the Meadowlands, and seeing the Rangers hoist the cup at the Garden.  He was generous when it came to children and animals; he donated to charity and fostered dogs when no one else would.  He loved conspicuous cars, from his Orange Volkswagen Thing (The Pumpkin), to his Green Jets Jeep, and his beloved “Baby Blue” Cadillac.

In 2002, he married Nancy and enjoyed the last decades of his life by her side.  Together they enjoyed taking road trips, spending time with family, and Jets tailgating.

In addition to his wife Nancy, Carl is survived by his son Derek Reichenbecher (Sarah), daughter Katie Jane Autry (Dennis), son Jeffrey Reichenbecher, stepsons Brian Rosson (Lisa) and Robert Rosson, his brother Kurt Reichenbecher (Kathi), grandchildren June, Margaret, and William Reichenbecher, and Emily and Abby Rosson.  He will be remembered and loved by his nephews, niece, friends, and family.

Theodore M. Newcomer Sr.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Theodore Martin Newcomer Sr.  Theodore was born on August 25th, 1949 in Fitkin Hospital, Neptune NJ.  He grew up in Neptune with his five siblings, where he graduated from Neptune High School, he attended the Missouri University of Science & Technology, in Rolla MO.  He resided and raised his family in Bradley Beach, NJ where he lived for forty-five years.  Ted was a Master Electrician and a Master HVACR Licensee, where he learned the electrical trade from his father Abram, who was also a Master Electrician Licensee.  Ted, in his earlier years, was a skilled painter and creator of custom hand painted signs, where he usually was found on weekends at flea markets and craft shows throughout NJ.  In recent years, Ted was a Licensed Real Estate Agent with the State of NJ, at Patrick Parker Realty.  He was an avid fisherman, from surf casting to long runs out to the canyon with his buddies fishing for tuna and mako shark.  Ted was well known for an unparalleled sense of humor for any occasion, in any environment and usually at an inappropriate time, along with a relentless and endearing sarcasm of “busting people’s chops” that found its way into many conversations with his most beloved family, friends, and associates.  He is also known as Ted, Teddy, Uncle Ted, Dad and most importantly Pop Pop to 4 of his most cherished and adored individuals, his grandchildren.  He was a collector of many great artifacts, possibly the lost parts of the Dead Seas Scrolls, tools, and still brand-new office supplies, enough to stock the Empire State Building for a month, that he had a hard time letting go of through the years.

He passed away on Wednesday April 21st, 2021 at Jersey Shore Medical Center with his immediate family at his side.   He was preceded in death by his parents Abram D. Newcomer & Doris A. Newcomer, a brother James M. Newcomer, and his in-laws Walter C. Rummel and Janet R. Rummel.  Theodore is survived by his loving wife and caretaker of 49 years, Cathi H. Newcomer, his beloved children, his daughter Tara M. Buckley, his son Theodore M. Newcomer Jr., along with his beloved and cherished grandchildren, Ashley J. Trottier, Lily P. Newcomer, Alex R. Buckley, Kodiak M. Newcomer, his son-in-law Ryan M. Buckley and his daughter-in-law Kristen A. Newcomer. His siblings, A. Dave Newcomer, Ronald A. Newcomer, Patricia A. Rusca, and Carol A. Albanesi.  He is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who he loved dearly.

No services will be held at this time, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later, yet to be determined date, that will be announced by his immediate family.  In lieu of flowers, we would like to ask for a donation in his name and loving memory, Theodore Martin Newcomer Sr., to any of the following organizations.
